Yves Saint Laurent is resurrected in two separate films, both coming to the U.S.

Yves Saint Laurent intrigues America. Two biopics dedicated to the great fashion designer who died in 2008 will be distributed in the United States.

The first movie, entitled Yves Saint Laurent, and distributed by the Weinstein Company, will be out in the US on June 25th. In this biopic by Jalil Lespert, released in January in France, Pierre Niney is interpreting the internationally famous style icon. The movie will be presented at the International Seattle Film Festival on May 20th and 31st.

The second biopic, directed by Bertrand Bonello, was screened for the first time at the Cannes Festival on May 17. Pending a possible award, Saint Laurent already got the attention of the professionals. At the Cannes market, Sony Picture Classics just acquired its rights for North America.

Gaspard Ulliel and Jeremie Renier play Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé, along with Léa Seydoux, Louis Garrel, Helmut Berger and Amira Casar. The director, Bertrand Bonello, who began his career as a musician, has composed the score for his movie after having also co-written the screenplay and the dialogue.
