Luc Besson's "Taxi" Soon To Be a TV Show

Olivier Megaton, the French action flick director behind Taken 2, is making a big move to television. Megaton is producing Taxi Brooklyn South and will direct at least the first two episodes. The series is about a French-born taxi driver who needs to chauffeur an NYPD officer.

The move isn’t a break entirely with French cinema. The television series will be produced by the television network TF1 and by EuropaCorp, director Luc Besson’s production company. The series is also an adaptation of Besson’s movie franchise, Taxi.

The action-comedy is filming right now in New York and in Toronto. International rights to the series have already sold in numerous territories, particularly in Russia and in Japan.

This isn’t the first time Megaton and Besson have worked together. Besson also wrote Taken and Taken 2.
