Romantics Anonymous (Les émotifs anonymes)

NOT AVAILABLE ANYMORE TO STREAM ON NETFLIX. NOW AVAILABLE ON NETFLIX DVD. What do you get when an anxiety ridden chocolatier comes into contact with a skittish shop owner who's afraid of everyone he meets? Well, of course, you have an epic tale of love between two lonely lovers, afraid of their own shadows.

There are countless amounts of love stories in the world. There are even tons of romance films with relatable protagonists. It isn't every day, however, that you see a story of adorable middle aged happiness seekers who are so timid, it reminds you of how intense and extraordinary first love can be.

The characters of Romantics Anonymous (Les émotifs anonymes), directed by Jean-Pierre Améris, are so charming and delightful, that you will find yourself becoming a passionate fan for the two darlings, cheering with the vigor comparable only to fans at a Yankee and Red Sox game.

Benoît Poelvoorde plays Jean-René Van Den Hugde vulnerably and lightheartedly, while hesitant and apprehensive women everywhere will be rooting for their hero, Angélique Delange (Isabelle Carré) in this buoyant and delicious film.

Oh, and it's an excuse to bust out the chocolate movie snacks.
