LOL

Oops, just missed it! This film is no longer available on Netflix streaming or DVD.

This week, FrenchFlicks craved a trip down memory lane, taking it back all the way to High School, with the movie LOL, directed by Lisa Azuelos.

Lola (Christa Theret) is your everyday, sweet, hormone engorged teenage girl caught in the middle of a love triangle. Does she and Mael(Jérémy Kapone) have a shot together, even though their mutual friend is the ex that Lola had an epic courtship that ended just a week before (Félix Moati)? The drama! The romance! C'est l'amour!

Whether you went to high school in South Carolina or Paris, the sneaking around, the love triangles, and the stylish hair is all too familiar for all of us. So instead of switching on Bring it On or10 Things I Hate About You for the 15th time when you're in the mood for good, clean youthful entertainment, why not watch something with a French flare, with a sweet wholesome lead and a quirky, overprotective mother (Sophie Marceau)?

Adding to all the pleasure, the soundtrack is packed with all of the bands you listened to when you were this age: Blur, Supergrass, The Rolling Stones and Keane.

PS: We encourage you not to the watch the American remake, with Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore, also titled LOL and directed as well by Lisa Azuelos. It was widely recognized as one of the worst movies released in 2012.
