C.R.A.Z.Y.

NOW ONLY AVAILABLE ON NETFLIX DVD. The difference between Jean-Marc Vallée's C.R.A.Z.Y. and any other beloved dysfunctional family film that you've already seen is that, just like they did in the 70s, the great musical figures of rock 'n' roll are there to get you through.

In this film, the sounds of Patsy Cline, Pink Floyd and David Bowie do more than permeate through the storyline. Indeed, they narrate the coming of age of Zachary Beaulieu (Marc-André Grondin), a young man growing up in the midst of a battle zone, otherwise known as a family of four brothers.

It's not always easy to accept your own particular sexual preference, but that's nothing compared to trying to gain it from your head-strong and withdrawn father. Mr. and Mrs. Beaulieu (Danielle Proulx and Michel Côté) are introduced as the traditional upstanding Mom and Pop figures. They raise boys with so many different personalities, it displays a beautiful rainbow of teenage angst and rebellion across the screen.

Watch if you're a fan of nostalgia and "the good ol' days", if you love retro, and possibly as inspiration for some family drama you need to hash out this year.
