Lolo

Oops, just missed it! This film is no longer available on Netflix streaming or DVD. For her sixth feature, Julie Delpy (Two Days in Paris, Two Days in New York) went full on comedy and embraced her inner Woody Allen, filling her latest feature film with her talent for witty dialogue and… her signature neurosis.

Julie Delpy's Lolo, features a sociopathic and coddled son (Vincent Lacoste) and his dynamic but slightly disheveled mother (Julie Delpy) who would give anything to find love. The film is a complete gem, thanks to unique perspective, twisted humor and a nail-biting sense of storytelling.

To her own admission, Julie Delpy didn’t try to make the new Annie Hall, but simply created a non-pretentious, genuinely funny piece, that relies on its sense of comedy whether it comes from the dialogue or the absurd situation. Every joke is delivered on point thanks to an impeccable cast that also features Karin Viard and Dany Boon.

It might be a little too hysteric for some, but most of you will have a good time if you’re looking for something light with quotable lines.

Watch it if you like: Woody Allen’s and Judd Apatow’s (Knocked up, Trainwreck) comedies.
