Violette Leduc, born out of wedlock at the beginning of the 20th century, encountered Simone de Beauvoir during the post-WWII years in St-Germain-des-Prés. An intense, life-long relationship formed between these two women: one, for Violette, based on the quest for freedom through writing, and one, for Simone, based on the conviction that the fate of an extraordinary writer was in her hands.
