A group of explorers is struck by a mysterious malevolent force after an expedition to South America. In Moulinsart, Bergamote, the last of these explorers, falls into a deep slumber and professor Tournesol is abducted by a boat of mysterious indivduals. Tournesol realizes he was guilty of sacrilege by wearing a braclet from the mummy Rascar Capac, brought back during the expedition. Tintin, Captain Haddock and the Dupondts take off in pursuit of him, in Peru. On the way, they receive help from a young Quechua named Zorrino, who helps them get to the Temple du Soleil where Tournesol is being held…
