A country wrestling with rampant LGBT abuse, Nepal has just released its first-ever explicitly gay-themed film, the sensual and emotionally rich SOONGAVA: DANCE OF THE ORCHIDS. Two girls, Diya and Kiran, fall into a secret love affair just as one is being forced into an arranged marriage. Madly in love and unwilling to put up with the strict societal restraints imposed upon them, they decide to run off together and, in the process, rid themselves of a community they can no longer call home.
