Simon et Théodore

Synopsis

Simon is a loving husband to Rivkah, a rabbi who is eight-and-a-half months pregnant. They are in love and Simon is kind, thoughtful and caring. The only problem? Simon can’t stop hitting himself and neither his most recent stay at a mental institution nor the imminent arrival of his son seem to have helped him turn a corner. Rivkah is concerned about having him as a part of their newborn’s life. Théodore is 13 and studying for his bar mitzvah. But his mother doesn’t know where he goes after school and his absentee father doesn’t respond to him or his invitation to his bar mitzvah, not to mention his habit of losing his temper and hitting people and his hesitancy to communicate. When Théodore runs away from his own bar mitzvah ceremony, Simon follows, taking the opportunity as a chance to connect with the boy and thus prove to Rivkah that he can take care of their son when he arrives. As the unlikely duo travels through Paris getting angry, getting scared and getting close, they lean on each other and attempt to help one another fill in their own blanks before it is too late.
