A heist film in the ironic tradition of RIFIFI and BOB LE FLAMBEUR, this nifty thriller benefits from flavorsome Riviera locations and the generational frisson between aging icon Gabin and cocky newcomer Delon. Recently released from prison, veteran heistmaster Charles (Gabin) wants to pull off one last big job, but he needs a younger man to do the legwork. That role is filled by petty thief Francis (Delon), who infiltrates the Cannes casino by posing as a high roller but gets so caught up in his glamorous role, including an affair with a dancer, that he neglects his assignment.
