The Good Life

Synopsis

Sylvain, his brother Pierre and their father Yves lead a rustic existence, in harmony with nature, away from society. But when missing children flyers appear in the area, it becomes clear that more than just their father's ideals keep them away from town; the three have been living on the lam for years, the boys taken by their father after a bitter custody battle. Now that they are teens, the brothers’ life of freedom—they don’t have to go to school and can roam the fields and streams at will—starts to feel more like constraint, thwarting the pursuit of normal teenage desires. Soon, Sylvain will have to decide what defines “the good life” for himself. Inspired by and loosely based on a true story, Jean Denizot’s feature film debut is a fresh take on the coming-of-age story, told with a clear eye and a light touch.
