Once a year the sleepy French village of Saint-Sévère-sur-Indre wakes up when the carnival comes to town. The villagers amuse themselves with the festivities and the postman Francois watches a movie at a travelling show about the modern methods of the American post office. He rises to the challenge and wants to prove that he can deliver mail on his bike as fast as his motorized rivals in the USA.
