Klein filmed the meetings, barricades, debates, lectures, and the occupations in universities during May 1968. It’s a remarkable document, using footage of the confrontations between police and students as punctuation, but focusing on the meetings and debates in which the students formulate their strategies and respond to the changing situation. The film conveys the events of May ’68 not so much through the violence and conflicts that are so well-known but through the participants’ own words and thoughts.
