Claude Pinoteau passed away on October 5th, 2012 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, at the age of 87. Claude was not only a remarkable filmmaker but also such an integral part to so many aspects of the history of French cinema itself. His career began well before the 1960s. He climbed up, rung by rung, the career ladder (messenger, props man, assistant, stage manager, technical adviser, script supervisor/writer and even extra and a brief stint as an actor) before becoming a director himself. Indeed, he worked as first assistant to some of the most revered names in cinema. In his own right, Claude leaves behind a filmography composed of eleven feature films, one documentary and four short films, without counting his participation as screenwriter on numerous films.
