Bob le flambeur

Jean-Pierre Melville’s Bob le flambeur (1955)--loosely translated as “Bob the High Roller”--stars Roger Duchesne as a dapper, aging gambler who plans one last casino heist. The film anticipates the French New Wave’s interest in independent production and also initiated a remarkable run of taught and stylish gangster films by Melville.
