April Fools!

Some all time comedy classics from France this week: kicking off with the second biggest film of all time in France, Welcome to the Sticks, then the film so funny Hollywood remade it The Dinner Game, and finally an all time great with Louis de Funès, Delusions of Grandeur. Watch all three for only 99¢ each on iTunes!*

Welcome to the Sticks (Bienvenue Chez Les Ch’tis 2008)

Behind only Titanic in the all time box office chart in France, Welcome to the Sticks is a bonafide phenomenon. If you’re reading FrenchFlicks the chance you haven’t heard of it is pretty slim, so we’ll leave the summary out and just remind you that this is your chance to watch it again for less than a buck.

Available now on iTunes, Vudu, Amazon, Google Play

The Dinner Game (Le Diner de Cons 1998)

Coming in at number 14 in France’s biggest movies chart, The Dinner Game is almost as ubiquitous as Welcome to the Sticks… This clever comedy of words and errors was remade by Hollywood in 2011 as Dinner for Schmucks starring Steve Carrel and Paul Rudd, but we cannot recommend highly enough you see the original instead.

Delusions of Grandeur (La Folie Des Grandeurs 1971)

Finally, the number 75 biggest movie in France, starring the grandfather of French comedy Louis De Funès as a petty tyrant attempting to win back his job with the ‘help’ of his hapless valet. If you haven’t experienced this madcap adventure yet, don’t waste another moment, head over to iTunes now and pick it up for 99¢. You don’t have to be a francophone to love this… but it helps.
