A Moroccan immigrant now living in Lyon, Fatima works long hours as a cleaning lady to support her two daughters, Nesrine, 18 and a promising pre-med student, and Souad, 15 and rebellious. Her relationship with her younger daughter is especially tense, with the two often bickering as Souad seems too easy to abandon her ethnic heritage for assimilation while Fatima’s poor grasp of French is a constant source of embarrassment. Faucon finds gentle humor in the confusions of assimilation that Fatima experiences, while also revealing the harsh realities of life as an immigrant in France.
